Darja Švajger was born in Maribor, where she also started her musical education. After finishing the Secondary School of Music in Maribor, she studied solo singing (Prof. Liliana Sukis and Prof. Martin Klietmann) and jazz (Professors Shila Jordan, Jay Clayton, Andy Bay, Marck Murphy) at the University of Music in Graz, Austria. Her repertoire is extremely varied and ranges from pop, jazz, musicals and chansons to tango. In 1997, she graduated and became a Professor of solo singing. In her rich career she has released a number of solo albums - her debut "V objemu noči" in 1994; her latest album "Moji obrazi" was released in 2008 - and also took part in numerous projects, including theatre productions, cabarets, concerts with big bands and symphonic orchestras, musicals... Darja Švajger also represented Slovenia twice at the Eurovision Song Contest: in 1995 in Dublin she finished in excellent 7th place with the song "Prisluhni mi"; and in 1999 in Jerusalem she ranked in at 11th place with "Še tisoč let". RTV SLOVENIA SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA was founded in 1955 and has had a great influence on the Slovene music life. The orchestra was led by various conductors through the years: Uroš Prevoršek (1955-1966), Samo Hubad (1966-1980), Stanislav Macura (1980-1981), Anton Nanut (1981-1998), Lior Shambadal (2000-2003), David de Villiers (2003-2006) and from 2006 on by the excellent Chinese conductor En Shao. Its repertoire is diverse, from Baroque music to modern symphonic music, opera, oratories and cantatas, film music, with emphasis on Slovene compositions. The orchestra has recorded most of the Slovene symphonic repertoire and was awarded several times. There are more than 150 records in their discography. In the past seasons the orchestra draw attention with its numerous renowned conductors and soloists like: Marko Letonja, Angela Georghiu, Roberto Alagna, Marcello Alvarez, Miša Majski, Emanuelle Bertrand, Aldo Ciccolini, Radu Lupu, Mate Bekavac, Irena Grafenauer, Marjana Lipovšek, Ivo Pogorelić, Evelyn Glennie, The King's Singers, Mario Brunello and Stefan Milenković.
