The band Čao Portorož was formed in 2009 to satisfy the need for some authentic letting off of steam on Friday nights. They started to perform in the local clubs, and after a year and a half they felt the need to release the material that has been created. They dislike long-winded presentations, as can be seen from their songs, which are punchy and pithy vignettes, where punk and indie guitar rock intertwine with pop patterns. The songs of Čao Portorož can be considered a hommage to alternative rock of the 1990s and a tribute to the new wave formulas of the Yugoslavian „school.“ Their debut album ’Čao Portorož’ (2011) opens a vista of rough, racing guitar reefs, where melodic pop hooks puncture surrealist, fragmented lyrics, contributed by the instrumentalists themselves.
