Since its formation in 1998, Fake Orchestra has been a pioneer of transforming Slovene folk songs into modern styles, such as jazz ballads, African rhythms, and samba music. In 2004, they released the album Fake World with remakes of songs, such as Nocoj, pa oh nocoj, Ružica sam bila, and Po polju pa rožce cvetejo. Their next album was called Made in China and was released in 2008.

With their new project, based on funk and afro rhythms, Fake Orchestra includes dance elements into their performance. They also adapted their band and added three brass musicians.
