Folkart under the honorary patronage of Slovene National Commission for UNESCO

Slovene National Commission for UNESCO strives to preserve and present all types of Slovene cultural heritage.

Recently, the Commission confirmed the honorary patronage over international CIOFF® folklore festival FOLKART in Maribor for the year 2012. Folkart is the biggest folklore festival in Slovenia and among the “big five” festivals in Europe.

Therefore, the organizer of the festival - Cultural Event Centre Narodni dom Maribor - was honoured by the patronage of National Commission, since this is the only way to gain the sponsorship of the world organization UNESCO in the future.

The folklore festival FOLKART is the fundamental part of the International Festival Lent in Maribor, which is gaining recognition as a remarkable an indispensable cultural event in the international arena.
