Hot summer invites us to relax and enjoy. The city park seems to be the right choice, since it is full of laughter and happiness. Besides numerous workshops, the venue Art Camp also offers good music. This time we had the chance to see the performance Earth dancing by Brencl Banda. The band performed at numerous stages at Lent and this time, they decided to entertain children. “We perform playful music with changing rhythms. Adults sometimes prefer a steady rhythm but children are more open about it,” said the singer Polona Žalec.
Jurček stage offered something new: Omnibus Kantfest hosted songwriters from Kantfest festival. This time, the audience got the chance to listen to Drago Mlinarec, Ksenija Jus – Xenia and Peter Andrej. “We found out that there are numerous songwriters in Slovenia that could become big stars. Festival Lent allows us to present our work to a wider audience,” said Peter Andrej after the concert.
Hordes of visitors decided they must see the dynamic Erik Truffaz Quartet at Jazzlent. The concert was full of ambient electronics, drum and bass, hip-hop, pop, dub, classical and Arabic elements that resulted in melodic jazz music. "Good evening! We are pleased to be performing in Maribor," said Erik Truffaz, the successor of David Miles, in Slovene. "I think it is important to learn a few words of the language of the country I perform in. It allows me to communicate with the audience," he explained after the concert. "Festival Lent is absolutely cool. Good people and good feelings!” Of course, the concert was followed by a jam session.
